Introduction

The establishment of the National Food and Drug Control Agency (BPOM) is an institutional realization in guaranteeing the protection of consumer rights and as a technical implementer of the laws and regulations above. BPOM was established based on Presidential Decree No 103/2001 concerning Position, Duties, Functions, Authority, Organizational Structure, and Work Procedures of Non-Departmental Government Institutions. After the reformation, the existence of the role of the Director General of Drug and Food Control was established by a new agency to become BPOM which was determined to be a Non-Departmental Government Institution (LPND) to carry out the functions and duties of drug. “The involvement of international crime networks in the fields of medicine and food”
