Abstract
A THOUGHT PROVOKING article by Prof. T. E. Jessop on relision in army education appears in the current issue of the Journal of the Royal Army Educational Corps (23, No. 1 ; March 1949). Starting from his experience that many serving soldiers have litle moral or spiritual background to guide there in their everyday lives, Prof. Jessop suggests that, while the direct teaching of Christianity should remain the function of the Royal Army Chaplain's Department, much indirect teaching could be carried out by the Royal Army Educational Corps. In the remainder of his article he suggests ways whereby this could be done through current affairs, history, literature and science. Other articles in the Journal deal with the state of education in the British Army of the Rhine, the backward adult, Ashridge as a college for citizenship and the present work of the Institute of Army Education, Eltham Palace, and the Army School of Education, Bodmin.
