Abstract

Arjen Dondorp's decision to study medicine was like many doctors before him—he enjoyed science and wanted to help people. Reflecting on a career of almost three decades, he has certainly achieved that goal. Today, he is a Professor of Tropical Diseases at Oxford University and Deputy Director and Head of the Malaria and Critical Illness Department, Mahidol-Oxford Tropical Medicine Research Unit (MORU), Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University, Bangkok, Thailand, funded by the UK's Wellcome Trust and other donors.
