Abstract

The new edition of Aristotle’sPoeticsby Leonardo Tarán and Dimitri Gutas surpasses the work of their predecessors both in scope and in depth; it will be the standard text for many years to come. It does not put an end to all discussion of course. In this review instances are offered where the Greek, Syriac and/or Arabic text data can be interpreted in a different way, but in most cases one can only admire the solutions found by the editors.
