In Chapter 1, I suggested that the main theoretical barrier against analysis of concrete micro situations within the Marxian framework has been the absence of explicit consideration of class struggle, particularly struggle within productive activity. Once class struggle is incorporated fundamentally and explicitly into a Marxian framework, two types of consequences follow. First, it becomes clear that a number of new categories and concepts should be incorporated into the analysis. Second, alterations to a number of Marx’s categories are suggested. The first set of consequences are examined briefly in Section 1. The value of labour power is discussed in Section 2. Discretion, class struggle and other Marxian categories are examined in Section 3, and Section 4 deals briefly with general aspects of micro analysis and industry-area links.
