Abstract

The concept of economic security is not new. However, the awareness that the economic factor contributes to state security, or even constitutes its significant part, has been associated with the evolution of international relations throughout history. The following article identifies and describes the controversies and dilemmas arising from the economic security in conditions of the current growth of the world’s economy.

Introduction

The issue of security has become the focus of attention for politicians and scientists nowadays. It results from the dynamics of changes in the international relations system and the emergence of new economic powers. One of the approaches to security is represented by the Copenhagen. At the time of the dynamic changes connected with the construction of the new international order in conditions of hyperglobalization, it is essential to examine both the economic security and one of the factors shaping it, namely trade policy. At present, it is difficult to answer the question as to what kind of trade policy should be implemented by countries in order to draw benefits from their economic growth, while at the same time avoiding the risk adherent to that process and the resulting decline in their economic security.
