Abstract

Because of their intermittency, renewable energies increase uncertainty in predicting the residual load in interconnected power systems. Decentralized Photovoltaic (PV) Battery Systems can help to stabilize the volatile behavior of renewable power generation to some extent. Being the world’s largest market for private PV Battery Systems, Germany offers outstanding opportunities to study the performance and grid interaction behavior of PV Battery Systems in existing applications. This publication utilizes unique high resolution measurements performed in 20 carefully selected households with a PV Battery System. By combining the measured power profiles with an ample market analysis the overall effect on the German power grid regarding high power gradients is examined.
