Abstract

Several specimens of Sideridis chersotoides were observed eagerly feeding on the fresh sugary outflow, consisting mainly of l-arabinose, from Acacia albida branches at Tanomah in the Asir Province of Saudi Arabia. This observation is discussed in the light of other specialized feeding habits among noctuids, particularly in connection with fruit-piercing and eye-frequenting moths.
