Abstract

Translation of the meanings of Holy Quran was a matter of serious consideration in the early period of Islam. From the passage of time, translation of the meanings of Holy Quran has become very necessary to fulfill the requirements of Non Arab Muslims regarding understanding of the teachings of Islam. As concerned the status of Holy Quran in lives of Muslims , Holy Quran is a major source of the teachings of Islam so that there is no way for any Muslim to understand it ,but Arabic language or Quranic language make hindrance in the way of understanding of Holy Quran for Non Arab Muslims. A translator of the meanings of Holy Quran faces problems while translating the meanings of Holy Quran into other than Arabic language. The article entitled: Difficulties of translations of the meanings of Holy Quran into Non Arabic Languages (Analytical study) presents these difficulties with examples. The article would be a contribution towards Quranic studies and rest of Islamic studies. As concerned difficulties of the meanings of Holy Quran are as: Limited knowledge of Quranic phrases, terms and abbreviations, variation of the meanings of synonyms and antonyms. Style of Holy Quran and lack of contextual knowledge of Quranic Verses. Variation in the measures of Arabic words. Different of both languages syntactically and morphologically. These elements become hindrance in the way of translation and a translator feel difficulty in his job. This article is a comprehensive study of art of translation of the meanings of Holy Quran.
