Abstract

This paper tries to circumscirbe as clearly as possible the theme of social, political and religious movements it the Late Roman Empire and specially considers those movements which have been historically recorded under the name of Bacaudae. The “ancient” Bacaudae leads us to the discovery of new dimensions and extent: from Gaul to Romania, via Spain, without forgetting Greece or even Egypt… The journey is guided by the evidence of rediscoved surprising texts, some of which are rarely present (such as Siegebert de Gremloux`s ) in selections of this kind.
