Abstract

The paper presents applying the novel Impulse Response Function (IRF) method to a rectangular aperture. The IRF method is time domain approach to study electromagnetic field of an aperture antenna. Here a rectangular aperture is considered in the form of TEM horn antenna. Some analytical expressions of the IRF method regarding rectangular aperture are given. To confirm and compare the analytical results numerical model is constructed. The analysis showed that a high coincidence between analytical method and numerical modeling is achieved for various positions of the observation point. It is concluded that the IRF method and the proposed formula for amplitude distribution make it possible to study EM field at any point in space in front of the TEM horn aperture with high accuracy.
