Abstract

Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy and application value of OKW-1 microwave machine in alleviating herpes zoster pain. Methods Fifty-four patients with herpes zoster treated in the Affiliated Hospital of Shanxi Datong University from January 2017 to February 2018 were selected and evenly divided into two groups, according to random number table method. Twenty-seven patients in control group were given intravenous propofol treatment, cobaltamine tablets and acyclovir cream; 27 patients in observation group were treated with propofol intravenous infusion, oral administration of mecobalamin tablets and OKW-1 microwave machine treatment. The herpes recovery and pain scores were compared between the two groups. Results The total effective rate of observation group was significantly better than that of control group (96.30% vs.81.48%, P<0.05). The healing time, sleep time, and pain score of the herpes zoster in observation group were significantly better than those in control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusions The application of microwave combined with conventional treatment of herpes zoster can get satisfactory results, of which the effect is significantly better than a single treatment. It can relieve herpes zoster pain, improve the quality of sleep of patients and is worthy of clinical application and promotion. Key words: Postherpetic neuralgia; Provropril; Herpes subsided; Microwave combination therapy
