Abstract

Objective: To investigate the clinical value of bronchinal arterial embolization combined with joint polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and micro coaxial catheter in treatment of acute bronchiectasis hemoptysis. Methods: A total of 65 patients with bronchiectasis accompanied by hemoptysis were recruited and underwent bronchinal and intercostal artery or arteria subclavia or phrenicartery arteriograghy or arterial embolization by joint micro coaxial catheter with PVA particles, to localize the bleeding foci. Results: Among the 65 cases, the hemoptysis was fully stopped in 47 cases after the operation; small amount of bleeding reoccurred in 18 cases, but the symptom was gone with medication. The total effective rate is 100%. In all the cases no serious complications were observed. Conclusions: The bronchinal arterial embolization combined with joint PVA and micro coaxial catheter in treatment of acute bronchiectasis hemoptysis was safe and effective.
