Abstract
Anticipatory Failure Determination (AFD) is an analysis method based on TRIZ tools and using reverse thinking to predict product failure. Through the combination of AFD and TRIZ, component analysis, function analysis and resource analysis are used to establish a failure model that is suitable for mechanical products and can effectively analyze failure modes and causes. A shell-and-tube heat exchanger is taken as an example to verify the feasibility of the model, and the failure modes and causes of the shell-and-tube heat exchanger are analyzed.
