Abstract
Characterisation of the volume percentage and distribution of reinforcement particles in metal matrix composites with microfocal X-ray tomography was investigated using titanium diboride (TiB 2) in an aluminium matrix as a model system. Comparison to other techniques, including scanning electron and optical microscopy, illustrates the benefits of tomography.
