Abstract

The Tabakin interaction is applied in a shell-model calculation of sd shell nuclei with mass numbers 36 ≦ A ≦ 39. If a slightly modified interaction is used, satisfactory agreement with experiment can be obtained, otherwise the agreement for 38K is poor. Nuclear moments, electromagnetic transition rates and spectroscopic factors are calculated and compared to the predictions of the modified surface delta interaction. In general, a reasonable agreement with experiment is obtained from both interactions except for the T = 0 levels in 38K calculated from the modified surface delta interaction.
