Abstract

Abstract The EPR spectra of Gd3+ in powder perovskites Pb2YbNbO6 (PYN) Pb2ScNbO6 (PSN) and Pb2InNbO6 (PIN) have been studied. The degree of compositional long-range order S was varied in PSN and PIN by high-temperature treatment. It is shown that anisotropy and diffusion of the spectra increase with the decrease in S. The conclusion has been reached that the EPR method can be employed to register the compositional ordering effects in perovskites. The ordering process in powders and small crystals has been found to be much more rapid than in ceramics. The crystalline fields in ordered PYN have been calculated in the approximation of the point polarizable ions.
