Abstract

Objective To explore the application of the continuity care in patients with osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures. Methods A total of 100 patients with osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures who were chosen by the convenient sampling method were enrolled from November 2015 to October 2016. A total of 50 patients in the control group were treated with spinal surgery, and 50 patients in the experimental group were enrolled with continuity care, compared the two groups after discharge functional exercise, medication, postoperative complications, re-hospitalization within three months and satisfaction. Results In the experimental group, the accuracy rate of function exercise was 90% in the patients, 70% in the control group; the correct rate of medication administrating was 94% in the experimental group and 74% in the control group; the satisfaction rate was 98% in experimental group and 82% in the control group; the re-hospitalization rate was 4% in the experimental group and 18% in the control group in the control group (χ2/ Z=6.25, 7.44, 3.25, 5.01; P<0.05) . Conclusions Continuing care for patients with osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures can provide accurate and effective post-discharge continuity care services to improve the accuracy of patients with functional exercise, the correct rate of medication administrating and patient′s satisfaction, and reduce the patient discharged within three months after the hospitalization rate.
