Abstract

The article describes a sensor based on the resonant monopole antenna and its application for dielectric properties measurement. Generally, the sensor can be used in microwave characterization of various material but the article is focused on sensing liquids, powdered and granular materials for which the sensor can be plunged into medium under test without special mechanical treatment (or adjusting) a sample. The measured magnitude of the reflection coefficient at the resonance frequency is used for reconstructing complex permittivity by proper de-embedding procedure based on 3D EM simulator CST Microwave Studio.
