Abstract
Abstract In this chapter we discuss two specific theories of turbulence. They are the direct-interaction approximation (or DIA, for short) and the local energy transfer (or LET) theory. They are both examples of second-order renormalized perturbation theories, as discussed in the previous chapter, and hence share the same equation for the pair correlation of velocities, but differ in the way in which renormalization is accomplished by the introduction of a second (response or propagator) function.
