Abstract

Objective To explore the application and effect of quality control circle (QCC) activities in reducing the improper placement rate of endoscopic equipment in the operating room. Methods QCC was established in December 2016. QCC activities were conducted for non-standard placement of endoscopy equipment in operating room of Hospital of Qingdao Commercial Staff from December 1st, 2016 to May 28th, 2017. According to the steps of QCC activity, the circle name was determined; the theme of activity was established; the current situation was investigated; the reasons affecting the non-standard placement rate of endoscopy equipment in operating room were analyzed by PDCA cycle technique, the goals were set, the statistics and analysis were carried out, the real reasons were found, the countermeasures for improvement were formulated and implemented. Finally, the tangible and intangible results were analyzed. Results The irregular placement rate of the endoscopic equipment decreased from 33.4% (229/685) to 12.8% (73/570) , and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05) . Conclusions Launching of QCC activity effectively reduced the irregular placement rate of operating room endoscopic equipment and improved working efficiency and nursing quality. At the same time, it improves the comprehensive abilities of circle members, such as problem solving, communication and cooperation, self-confidence, team cohesion and so on.
