Abstract

Objective To study and analyze the application of PDCA mode in disinfection supply center and its safety. Methods Our hospital began to apply the PDCA management mode in the disinfection supply center from March, 2017. Before and after the application of PDCA management mode, the sterilization and safety evaluation of endoscopic instruments were studied and analyzed. Results After applying the PDCA management mode, the rust removal rate, cleaning qualification rate, packaging qualification rate, and disinfection pass rate of the surgical laparoscopic instruments were 99.08%, 99.50%, 98.42%, and 98.58%, respectively; the aseptic sample pass rate and sterility pass rates after packaging and cleaning were 98.83%, 99.17%, and 99.58%, respectively; and the infection rate was 0.50% (6/1200). The rust removal rate, cleaning qualification rate, packaging qualification rate, and disinfection pass rate of surgical laparoscopic instruments of the reference group were 96.92%, 97.58%, 95.50%, and 96.50%, respectively; the aseptic sample pass rate and the sterility pass rates after packaging and cleaning were 95.33%, 94.75%, and 96.00%, respectively; the infection rate was 3.67% (44/1 200). Compared with those in the reference group, the sterilizing rate and rust removal rate of the laparoscopic instrument were significantly higher and the infection rate of the device was significantly lower (both P<0.05). Conclusion The application of PDCA mode in hospital disinfection supply center can significantly improve the disinfection and sterilization effect of laparoscopic instruments, and effectively reduce the incidence of adverse events in the operating room, so it is worthy of clinical application. Key words: PDCA mode; Disinfection supply center; Endoscopic instruments; Sterilization effect; Safety
