Abstract
This paper describes a non-homogeneous multiple microprocessor system which utilizes shared memory for inter-processor communication and is suitable for real-time industrial control applications. A typical industrial control application involving a process with short time constants has been partitioned. Independent cooperating processors execute different aspects of the computational load. This leads to availability of more computational power, more efficient use of the hardware resources, and an increase in the sampling rate of the control system.
