Abstract

The traditional classification of Taenia based on morphological features of adult and cysticer-cosis has some limitations with difficulty to identify morphologically similar species. The development of molecu-lar biology techniques in recent years can detect interspecific or intraspecific genetic differences of Taenia at the gene level. If these two methods are integrated, insect species identification will become more comprehensive and objective. This paper reviewed the application of molecular biological technology, such as PCR-RFLP,RAPD and analysis of DNA sequence in classification and identification of Taenia.
