Abstract

Objective To discuss the effect of modern medical simulation teaching method in community nurses’ skill training.Methods Experimental group consisted of 42 community nurses who were trained by using modern medical simulation teaching method in 2012 , while the control group consisted of 45 community nurses who were trained by traditional teaching method in 2010 and 2011 .Test scores of two groups and nurses ’ satisfaction with different teaching methods were investigated and compared .Results The percentage of eligibility of skill assessment in the experimental group was higher than that in the control group , and the difference was statistically significant (χ2 =4.254,6.845,7.697,9.738,7.832,5.202,5.451,6.771,5.179, 4.304,4.254,5.635,4.254,4.695,6.165,respectively;P<0.05).Nurses’ satisfaction with methods to stimulate interest in learning (95.24%), increased confidence (90.48%), cultivating learner autonomy (88.10%) and operation standardization (83.33%) in the experimental group were higher than those in the control group which were respectively 33.33%,42.22%,31.11% and 42.22%, and the differences were statistically significant (χ2 =35.803, 35.803, 31.840, 11.408, respectively; P <0.01).Conclusions Clinical skill training with modern medical simulation teaching method cansignificantlyimprove the practice skills of community nurses , and is effective to stimulate nurses ’ interest and learning autonomy , increase self-confidence and improve their satisfaction with the teaching method .
