Abstract

The demand for advanced solutions with state-of-the-art technology has become a necessity for the industries. Advanced materials with superior properties are needed to fulfill the engineering sector. Taking this into consideration, the metal matrix composite is the ideal prospect, and it has a combination of distinct materials, intending to achieve excellent properties. Metal matrix composites are consummate materials with extensive properties, such as high stiffness, creep resistance, high strength, corrosion resistance, and high fatigue strength. However, the properties depend upon the type of reinforcement materials and the processing techniques. The present paper throws light on the various applications, characterization, properties, and sorts of selected metal matrix composites.
