Abstract

Objective To explore a convenient, rapid, effective method for neonatal femoral vein blood puncture to collect blood samples. Methods 120 neonates were randomly assigned to receive line connection method ( study group ) or femoral vein palpation for lowating puncture site. The success rate of primary puncture and the average time to blood collection were compared between the two groups. Results There was a significant difference in the success rate of primary puncture between the two groups ( study group:96.7%,control group:83.3%,x2=76.8,P< 0.015 ).The average time to hlood collection was shorter in the study group than in the control group( t=8.912,P< 0.05 ).Conclusiong Line connection method is a more effective, convenient, rapid approach for neonatal femoral vein blood collection and is worth popularizing clinically.
