Abstract

Objective To investigate the application value of combined therapy of intraoperative hypotonic peritoneal chemo-hyperthermia and early postoperative intraperitoneal chemotherapy on gastric cancer. Methods Eighty-two T4a and T4b stage gastric cancer patients were randomly divided into two groups, and patients in the treatment group underwent the combined therapy, and only peritoneal lavage with distilled water was given for patients in control group. Patients in both groups accepted vein chemo- therapy with SP scheme after operation. Results The overall 2-year survival rate of the therapy group and the control group was 83.78% and 61.76%, respectively, there was significant difference between the two groups (P =0. 001 ). The overall 3-year survival rate of the treatment group was 70. 27%, which was significantly higher than that in the control group (47.06%), there was significant difference be- tween the two groups ( P = 0. 002 ). The rate of liver metastasis in treatment group was 8. 82% and 32.35 % in control group, the difference was significant (P 〈 0. 01 ). Conclusions The combined appli- cation of intraoperative hypotonic chemo-hyperthermia and early postoperatively intraperitoneal chemother- apy is effective for gastric cancer. Intraperitoneal chemotherapy can be used to prevent liver metastasis for postoperative gastric cancer patients.
