Abstract

In this work, the parallel combination of PID and fuzzy PID controllers entitled as Intelligent fuzzy PID (IFPID) controller is validated as a superior controller over PID and fuzzy PID controllers for two area thermal power system as Automatic Generation Control (AGC). The parameters of controllers implemented in the power system are tuned by Ant Lion Optimizer (ALO). The validation of novelty of controller and algorithm are graded by concerning the response parameters such as undershoot, overshoot, and settling time of deviations (frequency and power). A load disturbance of 0.01 p.u. is implemented in area-1 to demonstrate the whole experiment. Finally, IFPID controller optimized by ALO algorithm contributes better performance over PID and fuzzy PID controllers as AGC.
