Abstract

Some methods of applying hydroelectric analogy to unsteady flow in open channels are discussed. Computation of flood wave flattening with the Polish AFH-1 analog computer by means of successive approximation based on historical flood data is described and test results are given. Working time in forecasting is thereby considerably reduced and foreseeing of the peak hour facilitated. This method can be used also in cases in which the Kalinin-Milukov theory loses validity. Authors point to the possibility of solving in this way also complex cases of hydroelectric forecasting and announce the near publication of afore casting procedure based on influent waves summation and precipitation data, processed by the analog computer.
