Abstract

Objectives To evaluate the effect of endotracheal general anesthesia on preventing obturator nerve reflex in transurethral resection of bladder tumor(TURBT). Methods Clinical data of 148 patients who were diagnosed as lateral superficial bladder tumor underwent TURBT under combined spinal-epidural anesthesia or endotracheal general anesthesia in the hospital from October 2013 to October 2016 were reviewed retrospectively. The occurrence of obturator nerve reflex was compared under the two different anesthesia techniques. Results The occurrence rate of obturator nerve reflex under endotracheal general anesthesia was lower than that under spinal-epidural anesthesia. This difference was statistically significant (p = 0.02). Conclusions Endotracheal general anesthesia has better performance in preventing obturator nerve reflex and avoiding serious complications for accurate completing the surgery.
