Abstract
Objective To evaluate the clinical efficacy of Dexmedetomidine and Ropivacaine in evisceration of eyeball in the elderly. Methods A total of 36 eyes of 36 patients with blind underwent evisceration of eyeball with corneal retention. All cases received Dexmedetomidine 1.0μg/kg and 0.9%Nacl 100ml mixture IV drip 10-15 min preoperatively. Results Vital signs of all cases were stable during surgery.All cases answered well with the doctor and cooperated with surgery.The motion of prosthetic eyes was well. Conclusion Application of Dexmedetomidine during evisceration of eyeball in the elderly is safe and effective with less pain. Key words: Dexmedetomidine; Ropivacaine; Elderly; Evisceration, eyeball
