Abstract

Cellular automata (CA) provide an excellent method for modeling military complex systems. This paper discussed the principles, methods, characteristics, and applicability of CA and focus on the applications of cellular automata in military complex systems. Two simulation experiments are given to demonstrate the effectiveness of CA in simulating combat and pollution spread caused by weapons of mass destruction. The simulation results also revealed the performance metrics of CA in analyzing military complex systems.
