Abstract

Allergen specific immunotherapy(AIT)is a desensitization treatment for IgE-mediated allergic diseases.Combined with pharmacological therapy, AIT is used to treat allergic asthma, allergic rhinitis and atopic dermatitis caused by allergens that cannot be avoided.AIT is the only treatment modality that can alter the natural course of allergic disease.However, because of the lack of studies, there still exists controversy about the application of immunotherapy in children with allergic diseases.The mechanism of AIT, its clinical efficacy and safety in children with allergic diseases are reviewed.
