Abstract

In this paper, a one-dimensional (1-D) Planetary Boundary Layer (PBL) model is presented to predict wind and potential temperature profiles as a function of time using radiosonde data as initial input and the surface meteorological data as the forcing. The potential temperature profile is actually used to calculate the mixing height required in the trajectory model. The predicted temperature and wind profiles are then used as input to the Regional Scale Pollutant Trajectory model to study the path of the plume trajectory originating from a refinery located in Ras Tanura on the Arabian Gulf Coast.
