Abstract
AbstractDiplodia seriata,Phaeomoniella chlamydosporaandPhaeoacremonium aleophilumare the three main species associated with grapevine decline in Spain.AFLPmarkers were developed to discriminate Spanish populations of these species. The markers were used to genotype isolates ofD. seriata,P. chlamydosporaandP. aleophilum.AFLPmarkers were valuable in performing population genetic studies as genetic variability (Kx) ranged from 0.07 in theP. chlamydosporapopulation to 0.28 in theD. seriatapopulation. Species‐specific markers obtained using only twoAFLPcombinations clearly discriminateD. seriata,P. chlamydosporaandP. aleophilumand are a useful tool in simultaneous identification tests.
