Appliances control and parameters monitoring in home for differently abled and senior citizens

Abstract

It is difficult to control home appliances for differently abled people. In this work we will control home appliances by simple hand gestures. In the earlier works many methods like kinetic, accelerometer ang gyroscope were used to control home appliances. But these methods are not effective. They have limited gestures, less accuracy, low speed and high cost. To overcome all this, we use leap motion sensor to track gestures. In this work, leap motion sensor is used for the gesture based control and the temperature of the room is monitored and controlled automatically with the help of a temperature sensor. Leap motion sensor is a USB device that can sense the hand gestures drawn above it. The hand gestures are observed and these hand gestures are made into signals and the signals are transferred to the computer. HVAC technology is used to maintain the room temperature.
