Abstract

This appendix presents a technical glossary of early Quanzhen Daois. The hut/hermitage is a secluded enclosure for intensive religious praxis, and is also referred to as reed-thatched huts and grass-thatched shelters. The most famous early Quanzhen hut was the Quanzhen, which was built by Wang Chongyang on Ma Danyang's property. The eight trigrams (three-line diagrams) of the Yijing which combine to form the sixtyfour hexagrams (six-line diagrams), believed to represent all possible changes and transformations based on yin-yang in the cosmos.
