Abstract

An apparatus is described which can be used to measure vapor pressure and ignition or decomposition temperature at pressures up to 4000 psig. The measurements can be made rapidly and under conditions simulating the combustion of liquids in an inert atmosphere. Vapor pressure data on ethyl nitrate and 2-nitropropane are presented, along with data on the decomposition temperature of triethyleneglycol dinitrate, metriol trinitrate-triacetin, and gem-dinitropropane.
