Abstract
Un puerto trasciende la actividad que se realiza en sus instalaciones o en su condición de nodo físico y geopolítico en el que se desarrollan tareas esencialmente económicas, ya que también es un espacio que otorga significado a la red de relaciones sociales, formales e informales, que se construyen al interior del puerto y en torno a él. En este sentido, el presente trabajo analiza los aportes historiográficos que han contribuido a enriquecer distintos aspectos de la historia portuaria argentina; reflexiona sobre las potencialidades que ofrecen los estudios regionales e interdisciplinarios a esta temática, y propone líneas de acción tendientes a revalorizar, preservar y conservar el patrimonio portuario.
