Abstract

Lipoprotein apheresis is an effective lipid-lowering treatment. Blood is withdrawn from the patient and passed through a treatment column which either filters or adsorbs Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL)-cholesterol, triglycerides, Lipoprotein(a) (Lp(a)) and Apolipoprotein B (Apo B). Once treated the blood is then returned to the patient.
