Abstract

Water resources are restrictive elements for the various forms of life on the planet, whether animal, plant or human. Thus, there is a need for studies aimed at the creation and use of tools and instruments for environmental management seeking to ensure the different uses of water. The objective of the research was to verify the bathing capacity and the conditions of the environmental quality of four bathhouses in the city of Coxim, MS. The adopted methodology was a descriptive research, accompanied by analysis of primary data compared with the legislation in force during the period from August 2019 to the month of July 2020. The parameters analyzed were Thermotolerant Coliforms, Escherichia coli , Dissolved Oxygen, pH (Hydrogenic Potential), Temperature and Conductivity. The sampling was carried out in accordance with the standards established by the Brazilian Association of Technical Standards and the Environmental Company of the State of Sao Paulo – CETESB (2019). For analysis, the analytical methods defined in the Standard Methods for the Examination of Water and Wastewater (2016) were used. The spas studied presented themselves as unsuitable for primary contact recreation in both bathing indices studied. However, the OD, pH and conductivity values are in accordance with the VMP stipulated by CONAMA Resolution 357/2005 for freshwater bodies classified as Class 2. Monitoring and investigation of the probable cause of the increase in coliforms is necessary in order to can apply preventive practices to maintain control of water quality conditions for bathing purposes.
