Abstract

Abstract 'Greenback YR' variety cabbage was seeded on 2 Mar into 40 inch rows at the Texas Agricultural Experiment Station, Weslaco, Tex. Soil type was a Hidalgo sandy clay loam. Plots measured 30 ft by 2 rows and were bordered by one row of grain sorghum. The experiment was arranged in a randomized complete block design with 4 replications. Insecticide treatments were applied on 8 Apr through a CO2-powered ground sprayer, calibrated to deliver 20 gal/acre (60 psi, 4 TX-10 hollow-cone nozzles per plot). Efficacy was evaluated 3 and 7 days postspray by counting aphids on 5 randomly selected plants per plot.
