Abstract

A new aperture-coupled active antenna with a push–pull oscillator is proposed. The generated power of the push–pull oscillator is electromagnetically coupled to the radiating patch via a coupling aperture. By changing the DC bias voltage, the linear frequency tuning range is achieved. The even-order modes in the radiated harmonics are noticeably suppressed owing to the odd mode excitation via the symmetry of the push–pull circuit and the shorting wall of the radiating patch.
