Abstract

The major limitation of carotid-femoral pulse wave velocity (cfPWV) is the less accurate and non-standardized method of measuring the pulse wave travel length along the aorta. The different methods used to measure travel length may influence the absolute value of pulse wave velocity, which made it difficult to compare studies. The variances of measured pulse wave travel length resulted in a significant difference in cfPWV [ [3] Rajzer M.W. Wojciechowska W. Klocek M. Palka I. Brzozowska-Kiszka M. Kawecka-Jaszcz K. Furthermore, the contour of the body and a tortuous aorta may influence the measurement of real travel length. We hypothesized that the power of pressure wave analysis would be improved if pulse wave pass lengths were not used, and we evaluated the power of aorta-to-arm (carotid–femoral to carotid–radial) pulse wave transition time ratio (PWTTR) in the prediction of patients with cardiovascular disease (CVD).
