Anxiety, Depression and Behaviour Problems among Preadolescent Primary School Children

Abstract

Although are many previous studies reported the factors associated with anxiety, depression and behaviour problems, but few studies have focused on the association between mental health (anxiety and depression) and problem behaviours in children. The current study aimed to determine the association between anxiety, depression and behaviour problems among preadolescent school children (n = 386). Results found that 7.7% and 10.1% of participants reported abnormal levels of depression and anxiety and it is correlated significantly with the children's problematic behaviours. The findings of the study provide valuable insight into understanding the mental health and behaviours of preadolescence primary school children in Malaysia.eISSN: 2398-4287 © 2019. The Authors.
