Abstract

Chemistry and biological activity of nucleoside analogues comprising a chiral axis will be reviewed with emphasis on anti-HIV agent adenallene (1a) and anti-HIV/HBV analogue cytallene (1b). Possible mechanism of action, activity toward the enzymes of nucleic acid metabolism and structure-activity relationships will be discussed.
