Antitumor effect of tumor necrosis factor alpha and interferon gamma on human lung adenocarcinoma A549 cell line.

Abstract

To explore the synergistic antitumor effect of tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-alpha) and interferon gamma ( IFN-gamma) on human lung adenocarcinoma A549 cell line. Cell growth inhibition was determined byMTT colorimetry assay. Both TNF-alpha and IFN-gamma showed directly growth inhibition on human lung carcinoma A549 cell line. IFN-gamma could enhance cell growth inhibition effect of TNF-alpha when used together. TNF-alpha and IFN-gamma displayed significant synergistic antitumor effect on human lung adenocarcinoma A549 cell line. These results give experimental evidence for the multimodality therapy of human lung cancer and other tumors.
