Abstract

The debate over gun regulations in the United States is often summarized as supporters of gun rights versus supporters of gun regulations. Historically, the banner organization for gun rights has been the National Rifle Association (NRA), which has existed since 1871, but there has been no comparable organization or movement for gun regulations. While more fractured in its organizational efforts than the gun rights movement, the anti‐gun violence movement has had moments of policy success that have had lasting implications for gun policy and gun rights in the United States and may be poised for new successes.
