Abstract

Vomiting, and the associated sensation of nausea, are very distressing symptoms that may be experienced by patients as the result of a disease process or its treatment. The specific causes of episodes of nausea and vomiting can be many and varied but fortunately there are a wide range of potential therapies available that may help. This article focuses on the different pharmacological groups of antiemetic medications that may be tried and provides information on their mechanisms, side-effects and uses.
